The Center of Excellence for Smart Agriculture at Teknokrat Indonesia University (UTI) once again carried out a field visit activity to its partner, the BSF Maggot Hut STBM, located in Jati Indah Village, Tanjung Bintang District, South Lampung. This visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and observe directly the implementation of sustainable waste management practices through the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots.
During the visit, the CoE Smart Agriculture team explored the maggot cultivation process, starting from organic waste collection, larval growth management, to the harvesting stage. The BSF maggot system serves as an innovative and eco-friendly solution for converting organic waste into valuable products such as animal feed and organic fertilizer. Through discussions and hands-on observation, participants gained deeper insights into how this method contributes to environmental sustainability and supports local economic development.
The activity was warmly welcomed by the partner, with interactive discussions taking place between the team and local practitioners. This visit not only strengthened institutional partnerships but also provided practical knowledge and real-world experience in sustainable agriculture and waste management. It is expected that this collaboration will continue to grow and inspire the development of innovative, environmentally friendly agricultural practices in the future.
