Assembling an Automatic Solar Panel Fan as an Implementation of Renewable Energy at MAN 1 Metro

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM (PKM)
Electrical Engineering Study Program – Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia
at MAN 1 Metro

On the day of the activity, the Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia conducted a Community Service Program (PKM) at MAN 1 Metro under the theme “Assembling an Automatic Solar Panel Fan as an Implementation of Renewable Energy.”

This activity represents a concrete implementation of the university’s tridharma (three pillars of higher education), particularly in the aspect of community service. It also reflects a collaborative effort between higher education institutions and secondary schools to enhance students’ competencies in electrical technology and renewable energy.

The PKM aimed to provide both theoretical understanding and practical skills regarding the utilization of solar energy as an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative energy source. During the activity, students received materials covering:

  • Introduction to the basic concepts of solar energy and the working principles of solar panels.
  • Fundamentals of electrical and electronic systems in simple circuits.
  • Introduction to components such as solar panels, batteries, solar charge controllers, sensors, and fan motors.
  • The assembly process of an automatic solar-powered fan.
  • System testing and performance analysis of the device.

The implementation method included interactive lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice sessions. Participants were guided step-by-step in assembling the circuit, starting from installing the solar panel, connecting the energy storage system, to integrating an automatic control system that enables the fan to operate efficiently using sunlight as the primary energy source.

The participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm through active involvement in practical sessions and question-and-answer discussions. This activity not only enriched their theoretical knowledge but also enhanced their technical skills and creativity in designing renewable energy–based systems.

Through this PKM activity, it is expected that:

  • Sustainable collaboration between the university and the school will be strengthened.
  • Students’ competencies in electrical engineering and renewable energy will improve.
  • Awareness of the importance of environmentally friendly technology will increase.
  • Simple, applicable innovations beneficial to society will be encouraged.

The Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia remains committed to contributing to the advancement of science and technology through impactful community service activities that benefit the education sector and the wider community.
